Garment Manufacturers in Bengaluru: A Buyer's Guide for Clothing Brands

Bengaluru is one of India's long-established garment manufacturing centres, strongest in woven garments for export brands. Here is what that means for a small brand looking for a factory in or around the city.

Short answerBengaluru is one of India's long-established garment manufacturing hubs, best known for woven garments: shirts, trousers, dresses, women's wear and denim, much of it made for export brands. Large export factories usually have high MOQs, while smaller domestic units in and around the city work with Indian brands. For cotton knit basics like t-shirts and hoodies, Tiruppur is usually the better fit.

Voz Cruda is based in Bengaluru, so this is the cluster we know at street level. This guide sits alongside our overview of garment hubs in India and our Tiruppur buyer's guide.

How the Bengaluru cluster works

Bengaluru's garment industry grew around large export factories that make woven garments for international fashion brands. Around them sits a wider network of smaller units, job-work tailoring units, washing and finishing units, embroidery and printing shops, and trim suppliers.

For a buyer, there are broadly two kinds of factory:

Large export factoriesSmaller domestic units
Typical buyersInternational brands and large retailersIndian brands, D2C labels, boutiques
MOQsHigh, often per colourLower and more flexible
SystemsFormal compliance, audits, detailed quality systemsVaries widely; vet carefully
FlexibilityLower for small ordersHigher; more willing to sample and adjust

Most small brands get the best results from a capable domestic unit, or by reaching an export-grade factory through a pooled order.

Where garment units are

Garment units are spread across the city's industrial and mixed-use areas rather than in one district. Peenya, the Mysore Road belt and the Hosur Road side are commonly known for garment units, and more factories sit in towns around Bengaluru. Because the cluster is spread out, a sourcing partner or a planned visit with appointments saves a lot of travel time in city traffic.

MOQs and pricing

Woven garments usually involve more parts and operations than a basic tee: collars, cuffs, plackets, buttons, interlining, pockets and sometimes washing. That affects both price and minimums.

  • Fabric: woven fabrics are often bought by the metre with mill or trader minimums. Using a fabric the unit already stocks keeps MOQs down.
  • Trims: buttons, interlining, zips and labels each have their own minimums.
  • Washing: denim and garment-washed pieces need washing runs, which push minimums up.
  • Construction: more operations per garment means a higher making cost.

Our guides on what MOQ means and how to negotiate it explain how to bring minimums down, and CMT vs FOB vs full package explains what each kind of quote includes.

How to source from Bengaluru

  1. Prepare a tech pack with measurements, fabric, trims and finishing. Woven garments have more details to specify than knits. Start from our free tech pack template.
  2. Shortlist units that already make your product, at a quantity close to yours. Ask to see current work.
  3. Visit or video call the unit, including the stitching floor and finishing area.
  4. Order a paid sample and check it against your tech pack. See the sampling process.
  5. Agree everything in writing: quantity, size split, price, delivery date, quality standard and payment terms.
  6. Check a sample of finished pieces before final payment.

Our supplier vetting checklist covers questions to ask and red flags.

Is Bengaluru right for your brand?

If your range leans on woven shirts, trousers, dresses or denim, Bengaluru deserves a place on your shortlist. If it is built on cotton knit basics, start with Tiruppur. If you make both, you may end up working with a unit in each hub. Tell Voz Cruda what you want to make and we will suggest suitable units in Bengaluru or elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bengaluru good for garment manufacturing?

Yes, especially for woven garments such as shirts, trousers, dresses and denim. Bengaluru has a long-established cluster of export garment factories, plus smaller units that work with domestic brands.

Where are garment factories in Bengaluru?

Garment units are spread across industrial and mixed areas of the city, including Peenya, Mysore Road and the Hosur Road side, with more units in towns around Bengaluru. A sourcing partner or a short visit helps you find the right one for your product.

Can small brands order from Bengaluru garment factories?

Large export factories usually have high minimums, but smaller domestic units in and around Bengaluru take smaller orders. Pooling an order with other buyers is another way to reach a larger factory's MOQ.
